Sockets and CPU's

An AMD CPU is not interchangeable with an Intel CPU , you either have an Intel or an AMD motherboard (barring any hybrid motherboards that may appear at some point)Even then you run into socket issues (a socket 939 Athlon CPU will not fit in an Athlon 754 motherboard)

CPU Makes

In the PC world there are 2 camps of note , Intel (Xeon, Pentium & Celeron) and AMD (Opteron, Athlon & Sempron). Once upon a time Pentium was king and AMD the poorer cousin, that is no longer true, some suggest the opposite.
PixelPushers can supply and install all of the above, most of our inhouse systems are Athlon, Sempron and Pentium based, PixelPushers rarely consider the Celeron range.

Replacment CPU's

can upset some Operating Stystems and the OS may require a repair or other tweaking after a CPU change, this is not included in our installed costing.
