Dead/Dying Hard Drive   

Your Hard drive stores not only your Operating System and programs but more importantly your data , Operating Systems and programs can be re-installed however your data once lost is lost forever   

`dead` hard drives are not always as dead as they first appear, its often possible to retrieve data from a hard drive that is no longer bootable or appears at first glance to be `empty` , partition tables can often be recovered/rebuilt even when the hard drive has a physical problem.  

Don`t Panic   

Centurion can probably recover your data and repair or replace your hard drive, however there are a few steps to take to give yourself a better chance of full data recovery, check the list on the left hand side of the page before calling Centurion.

Symptoms   

Hard drives towards the end of their lives can become very noisy , with a distinctive loud `ticking` sound, this however is common in older hard drives and not always the harbinger of death.       
If your operating system regularly seems to be running unscheduled disk checks your hard drive may have a problem       
If your computer has SMART capabilities it will may warn you at boot time that a problem is expected, take these warnings seriously! SMART warnings are usually correct.

• Centurion can even recover data after a disk format or malicious deletion.
• Never install data-recovery software on the hard drive with the problem !! , this action in itself can make some data unrecoverable.      
  
• Never rely on data-recovery software that you are unacquainted with , `magazine-cover` recovery software often does more harm than good for the uninitiated.
• If you fear that important data may have been deleted , do not use the hard drive until you have called Centurion
